Fran
Reisman started going to dog shows in New York in the early ‘70s with her sisters Honi
(now an Afghan Hound judge) and Carol (a Group and BIS judge) and their Afghan
Hounds and Borzoi, which included many champions and a National Specialty BIS
winner.
In 1983, Fran went out to the Afghan Hound National Specialty show in
Santa Barbara, Calif. She has stayed there ever since and was soon working for
Paul Lepiane and Bo Bengtson on The Afghan Hound Review and Poodle Variety.
Soon after Sighthound Review made
its appearance. Paul, Bo and Fran spent the next 25 years producing some of the
best single-breed magazines anywhere, as well as Sighthound Review. In 1997
they started the all-breed magazine Dogs In Review, which quickly became a
worldwide success.
In
2003 Fran took over publication of The Afghan Hound Review. During the years
that Erika Tonder published The Sighthound Magazine, Fran was the U.S.
representative. She has stayed with the magazine since that time, working with
Bo and the new publisher Dawne Deeley.
Fran
is now looking forward to continue working with Sighthound breeders, owners and
handlers and new publishers Denise Flaim and Theresa Lyons.
